amusing cultural differences

My husband and I were driving home from a nice lunch at Ristretto’s when the guy in the next car motioned to us. I assumed that he needed directions somewhere but instead, after I had rolled down the window, he inquired, cheerfully, "You interested in selling your car?" (Hebrew)
"No, we just bought it a month ago," my husband replied.
"First hand?"
"No, third."
"Ah, enjoy your car. It’s a great model," he told us and drove off.
Well, Ok, then.
I just can’t picture the above conversation happening in Maryland… or anywhere else for that matter.
